Cupboard Distributing Custom Cutting Policy for Designers

Effective January 2013

We are delighted to offer custom wood cutting for professional designers. This policy outlines how we work with you to create your custom surfaces for sale. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to email info@cdwood.com or call 937-652-3338 and we’ll be happy to discuss your options.  This document is a disclosure only and is not an agreement. You must contact us for an agreement that both parties will sign.

Option 1: We Cut, You Maintain Exclusivity to Sell Pieces

This option is perfect for designers that wish to maintain exclusive rights to their own wood shape designs. Cupboard Distributing can create and cut your designs with our laser for perfect edges and precise shapes. Laser cut designs can be up to 1/4” thick, no larger than 20” x 30”. If you need it thicker or larger, we can also cut up to 1/2” thick in our shop. We guarantee complete privacy, your design will not be viewed or shared with anyone outside of our company shop, and only employees that need to cut and pack the pieces will have access to them.

How to Get Started:

  1. Send us your shape via email with precise dimensions.

  2. Include any hole locations and sizes.

  3. Include as much information about how the piece fits together (if multiple parts) as possible.

  4. Tell us how many you will need, and the date you’ll need them by. We do require a minimum of 2 weeks lead time on any project.

  5. We will get back with you within 2-4 business days with a proposed price per piece.

  6. Once you approve the piece to go, just send us your payment information. All custom orders must be paid 100% in full before we ship your order. There are no returns or refunds on custom orders and actual freight charges by weight will be charged.

  7. We send you a custom cutting exclusivity agreement that both you and we sign, guaranteeing your privacy.

  8. You will get special pricing on your own pieces.

  9. You get your pieces shipped to you, sell them to your own customers and can reorder at any time when you need more! Your piece remains exclusively yours and we will not sell it to anyone but you. If you would like to sell it via Cupboard Distributing in the future, you can switch to Option 2 at any time.

Option 2: We Cut, We Sell to You as Well As Our Other Customers

This is a great option if we also carry your patterns and/or e-patterns on our website. In this scenario, you allow us to sell your custom shape to our customers as well as to you. When you allow us to sell to our very large customer base, you will sell more patterns and your name and designs reach a much wider audience. All designs are subject to our approval before we offer them for sale to our customers as well as you. Once you choose this option, you may not switch back to Option 1. You will get recognition on our website for the design of the piece.

How to Get Started:

  1. Send us your shape via email with precise dimensions.

  4. If you’re placing an order, tell us how many you will need, and the date you’ll need them by. We do require a minimum of 2 weeks lead time on any project.

  7. We send you a custom cutting agreement that both you and we sign that defines our right to sell your pieces to our customers.

  8. We will need a copy of your business license for tax purposes. (you can email or fax it to us) You will get special pricing on your own pieces that will be exclusive to you so you can stay competitive. We will disclose to you the price we’ll be selling the piece to our customers.

  9. You get your pieces shipped to you, sell them to your own customers and can reorder at any time when you need more! We will also sell and promote your pieces to our customers as well. You do not receive any commission from our sales of your wood custom pieces, however, if we do carry your pattern, you will receive your normal commission on your pattern sales. Your patterns will sell much better if we are able to offer the surfaces along with them! This is a great way to boost your pattern sales and commissions.

We offer either option to all our designers, and it is completely up to you which option you choose. We hope this makes it easy and convenient to get your shapes created in a timely manner. If you wish to no longer have Cupboard Distributing create or distribute your pieces, just send us a notice in writing and we’ll consider it effective immediately.
