Vera Collier (Painters Creek Folk Art) has always loved crafts and art. She began taking decorative painting classes in 1988 and has never looked back. She’s gone from storing her paints in a Quaker Oats tin kept on the kitchen counter and painting at the kitchen table to a basement studio with plenty of space to not only paint, but also sew and scrapbook. When her husband, Dennis, retired from Ford Motor Co. in 2002 they followed their dreams and moved from Northwest Ohio to Bear Lake in Northwest Michigan. They have two sons who live in the Columbus, Ohio area and 5 grandchildren.
Her day job is as an administrative assistant for an oil company which is headquartered in Bear Lake and nights and weekends find her painting and designing. She’s also newsletter editor and President of Northern Expressions Decorative Artists in nearby Traverse City, Michigan. Vera has had the privilege to be published in Painting Magazine, Create and Decorate and Paintworks. She also does design work through DecoArt for Michaels and Joann Fabrics.
